[1 of 4] Sony New Product Announcement: NW-A850 series Walkman
Sony’s Walkman line of portable audio products have a long and wide history. It started with the original cassette player built in 1978, and was, for a while, a colloquial description for portable audio players (the same way tissues are called Kleenexes in the US). Sony continues the line with today’s announcement of new additions to two lines of portable media players, as well as dock speakers.
Though only 7.2 mm in depth (0.3 inches), the new NW-A850 series Walkman has a high-quality S-Master amp built in, as well as a Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, which recreates the higher frequencies of an audio file usually lost in compression; a 2.8-inch OLED display; and 13.5mm-diameter (0.5-inch) earphones with digital noise canceling (blocks out up to 98% of ambient noise), clear stereo, and clear bass. It comes in three colors – black, white, and rose pink. Expect to see it in stores in the middle of November in capacities of 16, 32, and 64 GB ranging from about 24,000 to 40,000 JPY.
