Hitachi Introduces Flatscreen TVs with New LED Backlight Technology

Hitachi announced yesterday new additions to their Wooo lineup, the L42-ZP05 and L37-ZP05 digital high-vision TVs. These TVs have Hitachi’s new Slim-block LED technology onboard, which are back-light controllers that independently control the brightness of a small block of LEDs, which produce sharp contrasts with clear colors and deep blacks. Scaling back brightness in black pixels also allows for less power consumption – approximately 27% for the L42, and 21% for the L37. Also onboard is a 500 GB hard drive that can record up to 400 hours of television.
