Sigma Announces New DSLR Lens

Sigma announced a new 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM lens today for APS-C digital SLRs from Canon, Sigma, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony. It has a view angle of approximately 127.5 mm, and uses special low dispersion glass for perfect photography both in the center and on the edges. The aperture is made up of nine blades, producing a perfectly circular diaphragm for bokeh shots. The Canon version of this lens will go on sale on the 24th of this month for 94,300 JPY MSRP.

    “It has a view angle of approximately 127.5 mm” – this is for fish-eye or like 16mm lens.
    “- Angle of view: 28.6 degrees” – this is looks more like a truth for 85mm.

    In fact, it is not a view angle but a range.
    Because of APS-C sensor, we have a 1.5x factor.
    The range of 85mm in Full Frame becomes 127.5mm in APS-C.

    Anyway, it is very expensive if it is only for APS-C.
    Some used Nikon 85mm f/1.4D can be found at 80.000 yens => and it works with full frame !

    I’m confused. Was this not the same lens that Sigma “announced” a few months ago? Is this just a re-announcement for Photokina 2010 or something?
