Taking place usually one week before the TGS (Tokyo Game Show), the JAMMA Arcade Expo is “The” show for all amusement machinery and goodies. And this year, I have to admit that there were very few that stood-up and were worth our interest.
Among the interesting game we saw, but not always had the chance to play with, were Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA, from Sega, featuring a new two-on-two “Tag Battle” with a strong emphasis on who has the best ability to drive around Japanese mountain roads.
Gundam Xtreme VS from Namco Bandai with gorgeous graphics and where you will fight against other live players across Japan or next to you in Co-op mode, Flag Mode.
Pac-Man Battle Royale, also from Namco Bandai, where four player have to fight against each other on a retro table-type arcade unit.
Darius Burst: Another Chronicle from Taito. We already reviewed this game a few weeks ago but were not allowed to show you the video we took. Luckily today our good friends over at Taito were more than happy to allow us to shoot something for you. A brilliant game and we strongly advise you to read our “Hands-on” impression here = Darius Burst: Another Chronicle.
The Tablecloth Hour, another game from Taito where like a “magician” you have to pull a tablecloth out from underneath a variety of virtual plates without breaking them.
Another game from Taito, Music Gungun 2nd Generation, an update of the really nice and funny game for kids, where you will have to shoot monsters while following the tempo of some random music.
And the last but not least, Mines, from Rassen (Korea) where you will have to shoot with a heavy machine gun enemies from a pseudo 2nd World War-like era. If the game concept is not really new, the setting on the other hand is pretty impressive.
The Vulcan-M, the name of the machine gun, offers real feedback and vibrations, mounted on a foot stand that also vibrates with each shot and enemy attack. The setting also includes a 100” display and Dolby Digital Surround EX sound effects.
Anyway, just make sure to check the video below to get a glimpse of what you missed by not visiting today’s JAMMA Arcade Expo!
