TEAC Esoteric Universel and SACD audio combo

TEAC has a high-end range of products called Esoteric and they present two SACD playeras today, the X-03Se (at 5575 EUR) and a more moderate version called UX-3SE (for 5200 EUR). If you’re willing and able to spend 5000 EUR, why go for the cheap one… but hey, maybe that’s just me. Click on to the manufacturer’s site if you want more in-depth information. The casing is made out of aluminium, and it supports SACD’s and Video DVD’s.

It does… not really

Yep, well, It does help the end user to understand that those 2 players are stéréo only (have to use the numerical output in the case of the DVD one). It does help to understand that one is universal (DVD, SACD + CD) while the other one is only SACD/CD.
It does help also to understand that they are high-end products, just because they can be synchronised using an external clock! This is usualy only available on professional products, and it does halp a lot for the Digital to Analog conversion!
But what is hidden behind is that they use top end mechanical and DAC systems, and at this price, you often don’t have half that quality! Even if the prices are high, it is very good value for money!
Very very very good players…
