BenQ latest 24” wonder, the VW2420H, now available in Japan.

BenQ latest 24” wonder, the VW2420H, now available in Japan.

Being a great fan of BenQ’s monitors, I am glad to report that their latest ultra slim 24” LED backlight monitor, the VW2420H, is now available in Japan.
Featuring an amazing 8-Bit VA panel, the VW2420H offers brighter and more saturated images, natural details and deeper blacks with minimized light leakage.

The VW2420H also offer a 178/178 vie angle, a 250 cd/m2 of brightness and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. Finally our monitor comes with a D-SUB input as well as both DVI-D and HDMI 1.3. Definitively a must have!

According to http://www.benq.co.jp/products/LCD/?product=1699&page=specifications this monitor has a refresh rate of 8ms (!). That is most certainly not a must have in my opinion. Got all excited about this monitor for nothing apparently.

Unless of course 8ms = no ghosting on this type of panel? Please do enlighten us if that is the case. If the same rules apply to VA and TN panels, then I am steering well clear of this puppy, regardless of how sexy it looks.

      Do the math yourself:

      1000[ms]/60[fps]=16.6

As long as the response time is below that, there will be no ghosting. Of course, the catch is, that must be true for _all_ transitions, not just grey-to-grey.
Anyway, if you buy a VA panel, you buy it for primarily for movies and photo/video editing, where ghosting is much less of an issue.
