The Zen Vision arrives in Japan – iPOD Video

I have mixed feelings about this piece of news: yes, it’s very good news that there is an MP3 player that attacks the iPOD Video with equal weapons (when it comes to accessories and video codecs), but it’s sad to see that the design is just a copy of the Apple.
Anyway, let’s look at the specs: 30GB, 2.5″ screen with a 320×240 resolution, 62x19x104mm for 166g (compared to the 103,5×61,8x11mm and 136g of the iPOD Video), MP3/WMA audio compatibility and MPEG-1/2/4, WMV9, MotionJPEG, DivX 4/5 and XviD video compatibility. The video compatibility list is cool, but the device is heavier and thicker than the iPOD… so let’s wait and see whether it will outsell the iPOD. It will be on sale in Japan from mid December onwards.

If the screen’s 3.7 inches diagonally with a 3:4 (320×240) aspect ratio. Then wouldn’t its width be 2.96 inches, or about 75mm. If that’s the case, then how is it that the device can be 62mm wide?

I suppose this was probably a typo, but I thought I’d mention it anyway. The screen size is probably 2.7″, which would make the width of the screen about 55 mm and well within the boundaries of the device.
