From oil to plastic back to oil... There is now a machine for that!

This is a bit old and actually if you are visiting TEPIA expo in Japan you will be available to see the machine the flesh, however, Digg, un-dug this today, and I thought that well it really needs a second chance so here it is.

Akinori Ito, from the Japanese company Blest, developed several years ago a Machine capable to transform Plastic back into oil to be later used to create gasoline, Diesel and Kerosene. While the process is not so difficult to understand (See video below) the result is pretty impressive and thanks to Akinori Ito’s “Magix Box” you will be capable to turn 1kg of plastic back to 1l of Oil.  Not only this technology can help to eliminate once for all our “plastic” recycling problem but it also does not create any CO2 during the process.

I will try tonight to check if I still have some pictures at home of this machine, and will update this story later with it, meanwhile, just enjoy the video below and let’s spread the word…

Blest’s conversion technology uses a temperature controlling electric heater. The machines are able to process polyethylene, polystyrene and polypropylene (numbers 2-4) but not PET bottles (number 1). The result is a crude gas that can fuel things like generators, stoves and, when refined, can even be pumped into a car. One kilogram of plastic produces almost one litre of oil. To convert that amount takes about 1 kilowatt of electricity, which is approximately 20 cents.

Awsome…things like this should be shared and supported by everyone not only by countries that lacks of any recycling projects…the potential is huge, saving money and less CO2 emissions. Just add a little oil refinery machine next to it(like washer and dryer…^_^), fill your car and go….no more oil spills in the ocean forever.
