Sanyo new Xacti VPC-PD2BK set to crush the useless Flip Camera

Sanyo new Xacti VPC-PD2BK set to crush the useless Flip Camera

Ok, I have to admit I never understood why people are crazy about the Flip… Sure the Flip has an interested design and the concept is well done, but good lord, did you see the rubbish quality coming out a Flip? For years Sanyo had Xacti better equipped than Flip’s one and at almost equivalent price, but Today it seems that Sanyo, thankfully, decided to do the world a favor by “nuking” once and for all crappy video by announcing the VPC-PD2BK.

Announced at $169.99 USD (MSRP), the VPC-PD2BK, comes with a 10Mpix censor for Photo, a 3x Optical Zoom (Take That Flip), 1080/30p video recording, SDXC support, HDMI and USB power (Can be rechargeable via USB) and 37mm Wide Angle Lens.

Personally I can’t wait to see this baby and play with it !

SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO), the company that introduced the first true line of Dual Cameras capable of taking high quality photos and videos from one single unit, today introduces a new Full HD (1920 x 1080 30p) Pocket-Size Dual Camera, model VPC-PD2BK, with embedded software for easy use and sharing on social networks. The camera is the only one of its kind that offers Full HD video recording, 10 MP photo shooting, and 3x optical zoom in a stylish form factor that is about the size of a deck of cards. The camera will be available for purchase in September with an MSRP of $169.99.

The new pocket-size dual camera makes it a snap to shoot, connect, view and share both photos and videos on social networks like YouTube, Facebook, and Picasa. Two microphones on the sides of the camera record stereo sound.

“The new PD2BK delivers amazing 10MP photos and 1080 archive quality video with 3x optical zoom,” says Tom Van Voy, Vice President and General Manager of the Digital Solutions Division for SANYO North America. “Now users have both a convenient, ultra easy form factor and archive quality photos and videos that they will be proud to display on their HDTVs or share with friends and family from their computer.”

The SANYO VPC-PD2BK has a High Speed Sequential Shooting Mode usually found on more expensive or larger cameras. Connect using USB with either a built-in USB connector or with the included USB connection cable.

Files can be saved to SD, SDHC or ultra-high capacity SDXC (up to 64GB) memory cards.

can anyone tell me why it has a 4:3 screen and not a 16:9 screen?

    thanks! :)

Despite the Flip poor video quality, it will always sell relatively well because of distribution & Marketing. Helped by Cisco’s acquisition last year. Any point and shoot camera less than 2 yrs old has better video quality than the Flip.
