Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 Hands-on and First impression, we have 3D Samples for you!!!

And “Voila” we are back from Fujifilm Press Conference and we had the chance to play with this new W3 for a few minutes.
First of all, the W3 is nothing like the W1 and Fujifilm worked very hard on every little aspect of this camera. The Material use on this W3 are way better than on the W1, the camera feel less “Cheap” and more sturdy. The W3 3.5” Wide screen is just fantastic and sharper than the W1 one.
Handling the camera is a real pleasure and each single button are responding exactly like you wish they would.
Yep no doubts the W3 is nothing like the W1 when it comes to design and material.
Now what about 3D Photos? As you can understand we did not have much time ahead of us and many people where desperately waiting behind us to have the chance to play with this W3, however, what we can say is that here as well, the W3 is nothing like the W1.
2D & 3D Photos
Photo in 2D seems better than on the W1, but still need some improvement in order to reach an “acceptable” level of “Geekness”. Sure on your PC Screen, TV or printed on a Photo Paper the result will be fantastic but once you are zooming a little bit on the picture you will quickly notice a decrease in quality mainly (compression artifact) this most probably due to Fujifilm Image processor and the rather quite small size of the W3 sensor.
In 3D things are still pretty much the same, after all these 3D pictures are in fact two 2D ones, but shots taken with the W3 comes with no comparisons with the ones taken with the W1. Once plugged to a 3D TV, the 3D effect of the W3 and the quality of each picture are truly impressive, ideal to impress your friends and family.

HD 720p 3D Video.
So what about 3D Video recording. While we really appreciate the effort, the result is not some impressive, I mean, yeah sure Video in 3D are pretty stunning, but if you start looking closer on each video you will quickly realize the obvious lack of sharpness on every single shots. Sure video are shot in 720p but it just does not feel right, and to put things into perspective, an HD Flip Camera will most probably offer you a better result (in 2D).
This is said, and if you do not care much about video sharpness, the 3D effect on this W3 video mode is here as well quite impressive and like 3D photos, Videos taken with the W3 will amaze your friends and family. Sold at around 50,000 Yen in Japan, the W3 is by far the best 3D compact product on the market at the moment.
