The AOpen Mini PC finally available in Japan

After the release of the Mac Mini on the market, the PC industry understood it had to react, and AOpen decided to make a little Mimi-clone. It looks the part in my opinion and it looks a lot like the Mac Mini. the advantage over the Mini is the presence of a Microphone-In, a S-Video Out, and you can pop in a CPU and HDD of your choice… which is not the case with the Apple, where you’re stuck with a 4200rpm HDD and a 1.25 or 1.42Ghz CPU). So everything seems to be going well… but… there is still some work to do on the pricing aspect: for 80 EUR more than the Mini, you still have to get a CPU, RAM, HDD and an OS… which doubles the total bill of this configuration! So on that front, there’s a lot of ground to cover! Aside from the pricing, this really looks like a nice initiative, and if it could hold a Dual Core AMD processor, I might get tempted to get one…
