Casio to launch stylish and Sporty Edifice watches

Casio introduced yesterday their new Line-up of stylish and sporty watches that complete the EDIFICE series. Based on the brand concept of “Speed and Intelligence”, these watches are targeting the motor sports fan. Indeed, the design of this Line-up with its two disk-shaped indicators reminds car brake discs.
Regarding specs, our solar powered and radio controlled Edifice series is available in three different flavors. The watches feature a solid stainless steel wristband and body, while the bezel is ionized black. It also comes with 1/1000 second stopwatch, standard radio waves from six transmitters around the world, and an automatic calendar.
Available from September 2010
Norderstedt, August 2010 — Fast and elegant, the sporty EDIFICE watches with motor sports design are based on the brand concept of “Speed and Intelligence”, giving them a perfect association with Formula 1. Indeed, as a Red Bull Racing Team Partner, Casio is supporting the Red Bull Racing Team with its drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber for the second year running. As a dynamic symbol, Casio is presenting the new EQW-M1100DB-1A – the first watch in the collection that is equipped with a 1/1000 second stopwatch.
With its eye-catching dial in 3D design, which displays various timing functions in parallel, this solar powered radio-controlled watch gives the impression of motor sports energy and speed. The upper black level of the dial features integrated cut-out sections to provide a free view of the richly-contrasted design on the lower level. The multi-dimensional appearance subtly captures the active and functional character of the brand EDIFICE. The two disk-shaped indicators, each positioned within a small circular dial, are designed to look like car brake discs and have automotive inspiration. The recessed casing ring features the most important city abbreviations for the integrated world time function. Body and wristband are made of solid stainless steel and the bezel is ionised black using a complex process.
The technical highlight of the EQW-M1100DB chronograph is the integrated stopwatch. It displays elapsed time with an intelligent combination of second hand and motorised disc-shaped indicators. This indicator at the 9-o’clock position rotates forwards and backwards and, when the stopwatch is in use, alternates between displaying the 1/1000 second value and the 1/100 second value. The second hand indicates the 1/10 second value. The EQW-M1100DB can receive standard radio waves from six transmitters around the world (two in Japan, and one each in Germany, the UK, the US, and China).
With the new EDIFICE, it is not just motor sports fans who will experience the perfect feeling of the chase for 1/1000 seconds that can often be decisive in a race.
The model features the following functions:
• MULTIBAND 6 RADIO-CONTROLLED SIGNAL RECEPTION (EUROPE, USA, JAPAN, CHINA)
• TOUGH SOLAR
• 1/1000 SEC. STOPWATCH
• WORLD TIME
• NEOBRITE
• AUTOMATIC CALENDAR
• ALARM
• MINERAL GLASS
• IONISED BEZEL
• SOLID STAINLESS STEEL CASING
• SOLID STAINLESS STEEL BAND
• ONE-TOUCH 3-FOLD SAFETY BUCKLE
• WATER RESISTANT UP TO 10 BAR
The EQW-M1100DB-1A is available as of September 2010.
