Inter Navi Premium, Honda’s intelligent GPS system

Over here in Japan, we have the chance of owning a tiny PC/GPS combo that also has an FM transmitter or VICS that calculates the fastest route taking the traffic into account. Honda pushes the concept a bit further with their Inter Navi Premium. In collaboration with the phone operator Willcom, your GPS system can have unlimited internet access for 8 EUR per month and access 11 online services, like for example the weather forecast, traffic estimations per hour, the fastest lane when driving on a 2 or 3-lane road, a warning system that gives you the best time to leave and reach your destination in time, a personalised web page with information, a parking system that gives you the best option taking your destination into account, … and the system even sends your car data to Honda for a technical follow-up and possible repairs. It also incorporates a communication system with Honda’s 24/7 emergency centre.
