Seriously Adaptec, you could not find a smaller package for this?

Seriously Adaptec, you could not find a smaller package for this?

Seriously Adaptec you could not find something smaller and more “Eco-Friendly? What about you? Did you ever had such surprise before when purchasing something? Anyway that’s what I call a huge waist, sorry, waste for both storage space and material.

Package costs more than the Raid Card i think. :-(

I totally agree with you on this. Me and my boyfriend buy computer parts to upgrade our custom high-end computers and so far, only a tiny handful will shipped to us in huge boxes and once you open it, a tiny little box comes out of it where the item is tuck away at. Other places we order -sighs- they always ship stuff out to us and it’s like, ‘are you kidding me? a giant box with stuffing for a few books or some other items’ and ‘what a waste of space’ So yea, some companies need to find a better way to stuff their items in smaller boxes that is just a TAD bigger than the item. Love your videos of Japan, someday I plan on going there for summer classes (aboard). Take care!! XDD ^__^

It’s the size of the package that matters. At least that’s what girls have telling us men for ages.

Let’e me take a spin on this. This could be a reason why some company does this. For most delivery companies, weigh carry higher priority over size. I mean as long as package is under certain size, the cost of shipping goes by the weight. So, this is actually make sense for company to have box/packages at a certain size and make it 1 size fit all. Even if it’s larger. So company only have to have 1 inventory of packaging material for variety of product. In the case of Adaptec, it does make sense to have 1 size of box that can fit 50-100 variation of product, IDE, SCSI, SATA, RAID and etc ranging from full size PCI to half-size PCI to mini-PCI. The cost of packaging would actually be lower if Adaptec order 1 million boxs of single size vs 100k of 10sized boxes.

still.. they keep selling a lot of “air” for that price ;)
It’s a bit like Apple computers, every year they reduce the box size, but there is still room for improvement if you ask me.

Big packages prevent USPS employees stealing them. It’s easy to hide a small package. I heard this from a security expert.

“Anyway that’s what I call a huge waist for both storage space and material.”

A fat person has a ‘huge waist’, whilst Adaptec may be creating a ‘huge waste’.

Was this not “funny”? I was kind of proud here…

      I thought it was funny… ^_^

Bigger packaging makes sure the package does not get lost in transit as well as a theft deterrent at point of purchase.Standard sizes reduces cost which gets passed on to the consumer.Still better than plastic clam packs.
