New Epson PC’s (do not buy these!)

Epson also manufactures PC’s in Japan and they are meant for the corporate market (but I never saw an Epson PC in any company). This is their latest desktop in the Endover range. It is available with different versions of Celeron, Pentium 4 or D (820/830/840) CPU’s and these PC’s can be fully customized on Epson’s site.

665 EUR gets you a Pentium 4 630 (3Ghz), 256MB of RAM (max 3GB), 40GB HDD (was this really the smallest size?), a CD drive (they didn’t have a 5″ 1/4 drive) and XP Home (really useful in a corporate environment). For that amount of money, you can keep your machine, Mr Epson, because 30 EUR more will get me a AMD Dual Core, 1GB of RAM, 160GB in SATA, a GeForce 128MB and XP Pro!

    [quote:dd9bda90d8]Endover

freudian slip or punning for a bEndover?

My lab at a Japanese University ordered 2 of these recently via Epson direct. I think they get some kind of discount, and they ordered versions without CD burners (just CD playing) and, apparently, cooling fans.

When these arrived in mid-September, they generated so much heat that we went back to aircon. I suppose now we are looking forward to having a source of heat in the office during Winter months, without having to flip on the furnace or space heater.

I guess I sould invest in one of these systems to heat my house during the cold winter months. Maybe Epson should market these computers as a dual function device. “The New Epson Endeavor, Now with email and marshmallow roasting functionality”
