*WAAAYYY* too little, waaaayyyy too late.

Only thing worth considering TODAY (not tomorrow), would be a $150 recorder capable of 0.5TB discs at under $5 per blank. Anything else, and it’s just a waste of time.

Having many (many) tens of terabytes of data I need to keep, I just got last week a blu-ray recorder for the first time ever (for $120). Got a pack of 20 25GB discs with it for about $1 per disc. I still haven’t used any. I’m only going to use them for some family HD movies to give to relatives in a format they can easily playback, now that most have compatible players.

Otherwise, all the data, video mostly, is in hard drives. At $70 for a 1.5TB hard drive, it makes sense to buy them in pairs and keep everything double-archived that way.
