Another interesting R&D Project from DoCoMo Today and this time with a AR Golf application. Made for Android and running on their X10, this software thanks to the phone GPS will give you extremely accurate information on different golf courses around Japan and on your location, as well as being capable to keep your friends score and yours in real time (Each players needs to run the same software at the same time). On top of having detailed map and landscape data this software will give you the expected range of each club you may carry with you as well as helping you to choose the best club depending on your location, weather…

Now if this so far this solution is pretty basic, DoCoMo worked on adding some pretty nice features including the possibility for you to get accurate details on the remaining distance to the green/flag via AR (augmented Reality) by just pointing your phone camera to your surrounding. Pretty interesting if you are stuck in the rough and cannot see the Flag, as well as being capable to see your partners position directly from your phone, still using AR or on the course map.

Another pretty cool features is for you to get real updates on your friends position, shoots and scores as well as chatting to them directly from your phone, if of course they are using the same software, as well as being capable to follow one of your friend progress from the comfort of your sofa at home, the office or pretty much everywhere and give him/her advises thanks to the software integrated chat module.

Now, the good news is that this software will be sold in Japan this september and DoCoMo is hopping to be able to export this solution overseas for golfers around the world.
