Phone and electronic picture frame by SK Telecom

The Korean phone operator SK Telekom will release an electronic picture frame that will communicate with a phone. You snap a shot with your phone, and you simpley upload the picture to the frame by dialling *7777. The frame needs to be nearby or connected to your home network.

There are in total 10 types of frames that are all compatible with the following formats:

Mpeg 1/2/4 and DivX for the video
MP3, PCM, WAV and WMA for the audio

Other specifications are:

64Mb of internal memory
Compact Flash, SD, MMC and MemoryStick slot
Supports Jpeg and has a 10.4″ screen with a 800×600 resolution.

You seem to get 300Mb of storage capacity on the company’s network when you subscribe to this system. That way, you can take your pictures with your phone, upload them to the server and get them on your picture frame.

So when will we have a similar service in Japan?
