New Xbox 360 Slim and Kinect, prices and availability announced

Xbox 360 slim

On Monday we talked about Microsoft’s new motion-controller “Kinect” for Xbox 360 and promised you some more details.  At E3, both Kinect and the new “slim” X360 are officially unveiled yesterday. So now is the time for some more details:

Kinect, as you know, is built into the dashboard of Xbox 360 and allows interaction with the gaming console through nothing other than your gestures and voice. And now thanks to the “Video Kinect”, you will be able to enjoy not only video chat but also movies, sports or news with the person whom you are chatting with. Of course that is possible provided your chat-buddy has an Xbox 360 with Kinect. What’s more, since Kinect is capable of full “body motion tracking”, it can follow you as you move in the room. It will also come with 15 game titles including Zumba Fitness, Adrenalin Misfit, Dance Masters, Kinectimals, and Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. It is announced to be launched on November 4 and pricing is about $150.

As to the new smaller and slimmer Xbox 360 gaming console,  the main highlights are it has built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 n @2.4GHz, 250GB of storage on a removable hard drive, 45nm chipset (meaning less heat), five USB ports, one large fan instead of two as well as a kinect ready auxiliary port . It is available in the US now for $300 and will be available in Europe from July 16 for €249.99 ($305).

Other interesting news announced during the E3 is that Microsoft also added the complete Zune music library as well ESPN to Xbox 360. With the ESPN, you will be able have access to over 3,500 live sporting events and in HD quality streaming with the only conditions that you have Xbox Live Gold account ($50/year) and your ISP supports it.
