This can make a great Birthday present for kids of the day, indeed. Definitely a nice device to make Reading interesting for Kids…Offered by the Taiwan-based company Aiptek, it sports a 8-inch TFT LCD display at 800 x 600 resolution, and has 1GB of internal memory with support for SD / SDHC Memory Card (up to 16GB) and USB 2.0. It also functions as a Digital photo frame and MP3 player with support for JPEG and MP3 formats. It is also equipped with a rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and the nice thing is it comes with 20 pre-loaded illustrated audio books with language support for English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

It is available on Aiptek Online Shop for about $180 and new stories can be purchased online to download.

I can see ebook readers becoming the norm for kids in the not too far future. I imagine one day all schools will use them over traditional books too.
