Samsung “Galaxy Tab” Android Tablet shows up

Samsung Galaxy S

According to yesterday’s news based on the interview conducted by The Korea Herald with an industry source, Samsung were expected to launch a 7-inch touchscreen tablet (s-Tab) running on Android in August this year followed by 8-inch model in October and a 10-inch model in December.

And now with the picture posted by Samsung’s South Africa team on their Twitter account,  Samsung’s 7-inch tablet gets confirmed! The specifications have not been revealed, yet. However, what we know is that it is dubbed as “Galaxy Tab” instead of “S Tab” to begin with,  runs on Android 2.1 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top, features a high-resolution LCD TFT display and a 3.5mm headphone jack.  In the picture adjacent to it, you can also see  Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone.  However, above all, the curious thing seems to be the “phone” mark on the bottom left of the tablet…

We also know that it won’t have the Google’s Android market, but will use Samsung’s own app store.

the “phone” mark on the bottom left
    is probably for a speakerphone?

I really hope the Samsgun pad has a 16:9 screen.
(perfect for watching 16:9 movies without cropping/zooming)

I returned my iPad last week because I just cannot stand
watching movies on it. (the iPad doesn’t have a 16:9 screen)

If they get the price right then surely the might of Samsung can come up with something that will grab some sales from the iPad? We’ll have to wait and see I guess!
