Hitachi CEATEC 2005

Hitachi was obviously present at CEATEC, but the offering was quite pale.

We were able to look into the incredible DV-DH1000W’s belly, their big digital video recorder with 1Tb of storage capacity (2x500Gb).

We also got Blu-Rayed with this DVD and Blu-Ray burner for PC, and the obligatory Blu-Ray video recorder.

whilst strolling around in the Hitachi booth, we were also reminded about the iDVR, a HDD in a casing that can be used in different devices (PMP, portable player, …).

Hitachi also presented a new biometric system that uses the vein scheme in your finger as a point of reference.

New memory cards, a bit like the UMD, but over here at Hitachi they’re called MDA or Micro Data Archive. We did not find any info on storage capacities though.

Lapinou, the robot rabbit! Hitachi presentes this small robot rabbit that can be connected a variety of PC products and home A/V equipment, and that can interact with human beings. It recognises the human speech and face, and it starts whatever you tell it to switch on, e.g. “Lapinou, record the football game on channel 4 at 5pm”… and there you go! (no, it’s the white thing I’m talking about, and not the black being on the right)
