Panasonic unveiled Let’s Note CF-C1 multitouch screen convertible notebook

Panasonic have just unveiled their new 12.1-inch convertible notebook, the “Let’s note CF-C1″ at a press conference here in Tokyo. The main highlights of CF-C1 are:

-Weight: 1.46kg (with one battery). As such, the lightest convertible PC with 12.1-inch or bigger LCD.

-Screen: 12.1 TFT color WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, Multitouch Capacitive Screen. Adoption of Wacom’s “Feel IT Technology” with three layers screen: Multitouch sensor (0.7mm strengthened glass), LCD (0.21mm glass), and Pen sensor/Digitizer(0.5mm precision).

-CPU: Intel Core i5-520M vPro CPU @ 2.40GHz (With Turbo boost up to 2.93GHz)
-OS: Windows 7 Professional

-Shortcut keys: On the bottom right side, there are 5 shortcut keys on for “LCD light level”, “virtual keyboard”, “screen switch” to switch between landscape mode and portrait mode without the need to actually turning the whole notebook, “security”, and “user” key that pops up the so-called “Dashboard Application” allowing you to set the volume, check the level of the batteries, microphone, webcamera, button lights etc. And thanks to the LED backlight, the shortcut keys glow in the dark.

-Multitouch Pen: Placed at the back, it is possible for you to set the color, thickness of the drawing and use it as eraser. You can also save or restore the work you have done using the pen.

-Batteries: There are two battery slots at the back. It comes with one battery and second battery is separately sold. You can either use a single battery or two together. In the first case the battery life is estimated to be about 5.5 hours, whereas in the second case it can reach up to 11 hours. Since it supports “Hot Swap”, it is also possible for you to remove one of the batteries to charge without the need to shut down your computer.

-Magnesium lid/ protected HDD: CF-C1 survived free fall test (75cm) as well as water test where they pour a glass of water onto the keyboard and thanks to the technology used inside, it just passes through the keyboard and flows out from the back of the notebook causing no harm to the device.

-Hinges: There are three hinges instead of the conventional one of the convertible PCs. Two at the ends and one rotating in center for better support of the screen. On the left side of the display, there is a log off lever allowing you to plug off the display.

-Fast Boot Mode
-Hand Strap: Placed on the back for you to carry the device more comfortably and securely.
-Connectivity: Support for Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, , Bluetooth Ver 2.1 +EDR/Class 2, WiMax, NTT Docomo Wireless WAN (FOMA- high speed)

Other specs include 299.2mm x 226.5mm x 30.6mm/44.3mm of dimension and 2GB of DDR3 RAM (Max.6GB), 250 GB of 2.5″ HDD (@5400 rpm), SD card slot, 3 xUSB 2.0 ports, and web-camera.

Targeting especially the professionals on-the-go such as salespeople in the pharmaceutical or insurance industries or for doctors to demonstrate the X-ray or such to their hospitalized patients, it will be available from June 25 in Japan with the starting price of 213, 950 yen.
