Sony to sponsor Rock n’ Roll Marathon Series in the U.S.
Organized by the California-based media and event entertainment company the Competitor Group, Inc to promote running, the Rock n’ Roll Marathon starts on June 2, the American National Running Day. Considered to be the largest and the most widely attended marathon series in the world, it combines music and sports by lining local bands playing music along the race course while also raising money for charity.

San Diego, Calif., May 25, 2010 – The Competitor Group (CGI) today announced that the Sony W Series Walkman® MP3 Player will become the Official Digital Music Player of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

The new Sony Walkman W Series features a convenient lightweight, wire-free and wearable design, and with 2 GB of maximum capacity can hold approximately 470 songs. Further, the MP3 player is water resistant, allowing it to be used in all kinds of weather, and also features a handy quick-charge option. With just three minutes of charging time, the player can run for about 90 minutes, providing plenty of music for a workout.

Sony will launch its sponsorship at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & ½ Marathon on Sunday, June 6; a sold-out race with 30,000 entrants and a new finish line at SeaWorld. With an integrated marketing campaign, Sony will reach runners through an interactive mobile experience at the Health & Fitness Expo and finish line festival.
