Softbank “Mimamori Camera” to monitor your pets

Softbank Mimamori Pet Camera

You must have been wondering what has Pet Monitoring business to do with a mobile phones and service provider…Well, the answer is this very camera can be remotely controlled in real time via  Japanese mobile phones using the ‘TV call’ function. Named as such as ‘mimamori’ means to “watch over” in Japanese, the camera features 300,000 pixel sensor, digital zoom and built-in motion detection function. It is capable of taking pictures in 640×480p in JPEG format and can shoot videos in 176×144p in 3GP format. Once you send an SMS, it takes picture and sends it to you. Other features include up to 2GB of SD card support, 35 degrees of left-right movement, 40 degrees upwards and 5 degrees downwards.

Powered by AC adapter and offered in two versions as Z001 White (101×101×104mm) and Z002 Silver (85×112×105mm), they will be sold in Japan as of September. No word on pricing.
