Japan’s 2022 WC Bid: Holographic projection of Games, World-wide 3-D Telecasts

As you may know, FIFA will select the hosts of the World Cups 2018 and 2022 on December 22 and last week the bidders already submitted their World Cup concepts. Japan along with South Korea and Qatar are the three countries only bidding for 2022 and as Japan is the country of future technologies, their concept would not come as much of a surprise to you. But still impressive!
What they offer as part of their bid is called “Universal Fan Fest” which offers capturing all the matches from 360 degrees by 200 HD cameras, telecasting them all around the Globe in 3D and showing them on giant screens at the stadiums. And even more outstanding is their goal to provide holographic projection of the games on the pitch.
As to the other rather technical but certainly curious details, for the life-like live sound capturing, microphones will be installed below the pitch, and the power for this technology will be provided by some unprecedented means such as by cheering of the spectators and stomping of their feet as well as by the solar panels on the roof of the stadiums.
Now hearing this, I believe the fans around the World have already crossed their fingers for Japan.
