Let’s Visit Tokyo – Tea Ceremony

Let’s Visit Tokyo – Tea Ceremony

Hi everyone, today’s “Let’s Visit Tokyo” is a bit special, indeed instead of visiting one particular place we are going to enjoy, a very long video on the “Tea Ceremony”. So before you all get excited about this video, you have to understand several things first.

This video was taken during some kind of “Open Day” where several Tea Master and School were giving the opportunity to the general public or other Tea Master to test each other technique or enjoy Tea made by some well known Japanese school.

I was “allowed” to shoot today’s video since my wife belong to one of this School and the video I shot today was with her Master. Since it was an “Open-Day” I was not alone during this event and in order to respect each and every one’s privacy I was asked to not shoot any ones in particular. Also in order to not disturb the ceremony I could not freely move.

So basically you will have a 14mm Long Video where the camera is seated on a Tripod, without moving and shooting everything regardless of what’s happening in front of the camera.

I have to be honest with you, this may be a bit “Boring” and I would understand that you many not enjoy today video, but if you take the time to watch the video carefully you will learn a lot in fact, each movement, attitude or even the way that people walk (people’s feet always stay on the floor) has its importance.

Also check the way the present the ball or even the way their poor tea, everything is like “chirurgical precision”.

Anyway, I hope, thanks to my Wife’s Master to get the opportunity to shoot another video where I could freely move around, but this may take some times since the location is also very important for the atmosphere, and Speaking of that, today’s event took place at the Nezu Garden

Very nice Video, i always hoped to see such a ceremony in your Vidoes. What kind of lense is on the Cam? Feels like “miniatur”.

    interesting video…. thanks!

just out of curiosity, why are most recent Let’s Visit Tokyo so dark? especially on the
outer edges of the video… is this due to the type of camera/lens used?

I applied different effect on this video and one of them is a “Vignette” giving a darker edge on the video. I did not have time to setup the White Balance so I slightly played with colors to make the video look better.

Boring? Tea Ceremony isn’t exactly meant to be thrilling… I’m sure people are not expecting explosions and special effects ^^ That video is an opportunity to see what everyone is talking about, don’t belittle yourself!
