Sony offer new technology against counterfeiting and forgery

Sony

Sony Disc and Digital Solutions (SDADC) announced today the development of a mass production equipment that can apply individual identification codes into the Lippmann holograms.

Offered as an authentication tool to fight against counterfeiting and forgery of products including credit cards and smart IC cards, this technology can embed a single Lippmann hologram not only with up to 21 encrypted digits but also with computer graphics, photographic images and animation. As such, they are also considered to make effective marketing and advertising tools.

Developed based on Sony’s optical recording and digital image processing technologies, this new technology does indeed provide advanced security hard to counterfeit compared with the current technology in use which can only mass produce identical Lippmann holograms.

The product samples will be shipped to product manufacturers as of this month and initially these holograms are planned to be used on Sony products as authentication stickers.
