Sony “Contemplating Monolithic Design” Exhibition in Milano

Sony Monolithic Design

Consumer Electronics, just like most of other products in our lives, have more and more gained deeper meaning which go beyond their functionality. The phone that you use, the TV that you watch or the laptop you are using have all come to be means that give the rest of the World clues, a glimpse into what kind of person you may be and what your priorities are etc.  Likewise, most of us started to consider if a certain product, for example, would fit the interior of our house.  Hence it is not only technology anymore but price, design and even after service that count. With so many options in the market for a given product, the competition in the market got tougher than ever pushing the companies to find alternative promotion plans to attract consumers’ attention to their own product.

Sony’s ongoing “Contemplating Monolithic Design” exhibition at Milano Salone del Mobile  seems to come as a fitting strategy in this regard. This is actually not the first time Sony is cooperating with design people as back in 2007, they had exhibited creative products, the fruits of working together with artists from Italy, at the “Master Craft Lombardia” Expo and we had covered it in our news with a video “Sony Concept: Japanese Technology and Italian Design”. However, this time it is distinct in the sense that it is rather inter-marriage of technology, product and interior design with architecture.

The exhibition, which started yesterday,  is centered around Sony’s “Monolithic Design Concept” which is, as you may know, defined as aesthetic, functional and yet minimalistic designs. In the exhibition, they show, although distinct in character, how “Monolithic design language” can be in harmony with our contemporary living environments by exhibiting a  Sony Monolithic Design TV in 5 different settings with abstract forms.

If you are interested and happen to be in Milano until  April 19, you can see the exhibition.
