One of the two new optical drives Sony unveiled is the DRX-S77U, a portable, slim, external DVD/CD recordable type. It supports up to 8X DVD±R recording speeds delivering a 4.7 GB of content on a 8X DVD+R disc as well as recording at 6X speeds on 8.5 GB DVD+R Double/Dual layer and 4.7 GB DVD-RW discs, 8X speeds on DVD+RW, 5X on DVD-RAM and 24X on CD-R/RW. It is offered in black, white, pink and gold.
The other drive, the AD-7260S, is an internal DVD/CD recordable type and it supports up to 24X max DVD±R recording, 12X DVD+R Double/Dual layer recording, 12X DVD-RAM, and 48X CD-R performance. With this drive, tt is also possible to create personalized labels using LightScribeTM DVD/CD media thanks to LightScribeTM direct labeling technology it utilizes. It comes in black and beige bezel.
Both drives are available in the US. No word on pricing.
