TDK Launch SHG2A Series of Serial ATA II Half Slim Type SSDs

Scheduled to be available in April 2010, TDK’s latest half slim SATA II SSD SHG2A (about one half the size of a 1.8” HDD) is available in SLC NAND Memory (Single-Level Cell) with a capacity of 1, 2, 4, 8 & 16GB or in MLC (Multi-Level Cell) in 32GB, implements a static wear leveling function developed by TDK that equalizes data writing among all of the Flash memory blocks maximizing the life span of the memory giving a total of an approximated rewritable life span of 900 Million times on the MLC version and 6.3 Billion Times on the SLC ones. It is capable of a 95MB/s maximum reading speed on both models and a 55MB/s writing speed on all SLC ones and just 28MB/s on the 32GB MLC.
