All the new 8740w models in the HP Elitebook series measure 397.5 x 285.5 x 36.5 mm, feature 17 inch 1920 x 1080 HP DreamColor LED-backlit screen, two USB 3.0 ports, along with standard eSATA, VGA, RJ45, Firewire, optional 2MP webcam as well as a DisplayPort jack, 320 GB 7200 rpm SATA II (up to 500 GB) or up to 256 GB SSD, DVD+/-RW SUperMulti optical drive, Bluetooth 2.1 and they are upgradeable to 16 GB maximum SD RAM (with four 4 GB SODIMMs).
The basic model packs Intel Core i5-520M CPU @2.40 GHz, 2GB DDR3 SDRAM, ATI FirePro M78820 graphics with 1 GB dedicated GDDR video memory, Intel Centrino 802.11 a/b/g/n and comes for $ 1,999.
The top tier packs Core i7-720QM @1.60 GHz, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M with 1 GB dedicated GDDR3 video memory, Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3×3) 802.11a/b/g/n and comes for $3, 899.
