iVDR is not dead! The Universal Support
The iVDR (Information Versatile Disk for Removable usage) is very similar in concept to Super Nintendo cartridges in which a HDD is hidden, The principle of the cartridge is quite interesting and makes the operation of manipulating a HDD very easy. Initially, the cartridge was meant to be integrated into products like car stereos, HDD recorders, TV’s and even video cameras, but nowadays, the only support for the iVDR is an external USB2 reader. The guys at iTMEDIA were invited at a presentation of new concepts based on iVDR’s. As you will see, there are quite a number of interesting concepts, like this Hitachi iVDR PMP and the station that allows you to purchase and store music or videos onto iVDR. There is also a new product and format, the iVDR Mini (80x10x67mm), and an audio player for iVDR. Finally, there is this GPS system with iVDR drive.
We’re really charmed bu the whole iVDR concept, that is very similar to the MiniDisc. Imagine a UNIQUE format that is used in ALL products, ranging from an MP3 player, a PMP, a PC, a TV, a DVD player and even a hiFi set and a video recorder, with capacities ranging from 10 to 60 Gb…
