[CP+ 2010] Pentax Medium-Format 654D in the Flesh

Pentax Medium-Format 654D

Introduced to the world yesterday, new amazing Medium-Format 645D of Pentax was displayed at CP+ today in Yokohama. There is not much we can say since we did not have the chance to have a lot of time with this beast… However please enjoy some “Live” photos of this 40Mpix monster as well as this demo mode cut in half giving you an “inside” look of our camera and all its internal parts with a nice “exploded View”.

While the 645D was Pentax’s main attraction I could finally put my hands on their cute little Optio H90 and a wall of Colorful K-x DSLR.

So Pentax goes after Hasselblad and Sinar?Impressive;and quite bold.Nikon and Canon must have been taken by surprise. To the best of my knowledge Pentax doesn’t even have a full frame model yet!

Any info on the first two lenses in that set? The pertinent info has been covered/photoshopped.

What is that lens with the “front” label on it? Why the knob and the dial? Is it some sort of macro?

You can get a closer look on the Lens info here http://tinyurl.com/yjuv9l4 But you should normally read :

      Pentax 55, Pentax-DFA 645 1:2.8 55mm AL [IF] SDM AW

  • http://www.peiweddingphotography.com ptz1961

Those first two lens shots are not the 55mm. Unless it was some prototype that has been changed quite a bit. The hood is very different as are the focus grips etc. There are no filter threads and I suspect the knob is a lock for a cover to drop in filters.

So any idea what it really is? An ultra wide?
