New type of electric vehicle introduced in South Korea

The world’s first On-Line Electric Vehicle (OLEV) has entered service in Seoul, South Korea. The train-like vehicle is powered via electric strips that are buried beneath the road surface. These strips wirelessly provide the vehicle with power and also charge an on-board battery. The strips only need to cover a fifth of a journey’s length and the developer’s claim installing these strips at embarkation points and stopping points may be sufficient in future.
