Samsung announces release information for its eagerly awaited e-book in the US
Already available in Korea, Samsung eReaders are expected to be available in the US “imminently”. The device features an attractive sliding design, wifi connectivity and handwriting recognition through its electronic resonance (EMR) stylus open. This impressive technology allows users to make annotations and notes alongside a book’s text much as they might with a traditional paper-based book. Furthermore the eReader includes journal, scheduler and memo applications as well as an on-demand electronic dictionary.
It incorporates a 6″ E-ink display (600×800) with 8-Gray scale for easy readability both indoors and out. The device has support for e-pub, PDF/a, TXT, bmp and jpg formats. Samsung’s text-to-speech (TTS) technology reads text aloud and can be listened to through the built-in speakers or via headphones. The player also features an MP3 player for listening to music or audiobooks.
With 2GB of internal memory, the Samsung eReader can easily store 1,500 books or 24,000 pages of memos. A Micro SD card slot has the potential to increase the device’s storage capabilities by an additional 16GB.
The eReader will be priced at $399.99.
