Japan-based early 3D TV buyers set to pay almost double their US counterparts

Engadget are reporting that in an apparent bid to increase initial sales of 3D equipped television sets in the US, Panasonic will sell its VT25 50-inch 3D HDTV for almost 50% less than in Japan. A US price tag of $2500 for the television is a full $2300 cheaper than the same TV is set to cost in Japan! With such bizarre pricing and no love being shown by the Japanese giant for its home market, Japan-based consumers eager to immerse themselves in 3D goodness are sure to be left scratching their heads and asking themselves “why Panasonic why?!”.
The sets go on sale in the US tomorrow, with a Japanese release date of April 23rd.
