Japan still has some design lessons to take

Japan is at the forefront of the cellular phone with Visio Conference, GPS, data transfer at 2.4Mbps, 3MP cameras (5 for China and Korea)… but the phones are bricks! Huge phones that deform your pockets, but we have to admit that the look of certain Motorola and Nokia are quite cool

After spending all these years in Asia (China and Japan), we have to admit that when it comes to the top end of the range, phones in the USA and Europe are better than the Asian ones. As an example, let’s look at the first StarTac’s and the 8810 and 8850 by Nokia. These were exceptional products despite their limited functionalities that were not up to par compared to the Japanese models. But the look & like was there. We really hope that one day, we’ll be able to see a Japanese phone with a Motorola or Noka design.

You also have to know that the Japanese phones are quite nice when seen on a photo, but they show wear and tear signs very easily, and the paint rubs off after 6 months of normal use and the plastics used on the phone give it a very cheap look. since a phone is usually not kept longer than 6 months in Japan, phone manufacturers don’t invest any time and resources to do something about this.

JAPAN (Foma) Versus USA (Motorola)
