PSP2, the pictures

E3 has not unveiled everything yet!
In a world exclusive premiere, AkihabaraNews unveils the first pictures of the upcoming PSP2!

No! I’m kidding, this is not the PSP2

The real news

A bunch of Japanese DIY’ers had a useless old Famicom console and decided to build their own PSP. They started by tearing the console apart…

After dismantling the beast, this is what they kept: the motherboard and the CPU.

They started looking for a cheap screen… and managed to get their hands on an old pachinko screen (a vertical Japanese flipper).

Then there was the joystick problem. The solution: cut the Famicom’s controller in half.

A bit of glue, a plastic casing, lots of wires to connect everything…

And finally the batteries… and there it is, the Poor man’s PSP :-p

Quite cool, no?

Can you still buy Famicoms in Japan? I know it sounds a stupid question, but do you seen them in Akihabara for, like 15 euro?

Great! I always wanted to own one, but I always had Sega machines when I was a kid (mostly my parents buying wrong christmas presents!) How much would one cost in Japan now? Also, is it tru that the first version doesn’t actually have inputs for non-Japanese TVs?

Because you’d really chop an original into pieces – an AV maybe

That is so true. If I had an original Famicom it would be in a glass case or something. But sadly I only have a front loading Nintendo Entertainment System that I got with the Light Gun and the Powerpad when it came out in the states. But it still works to play Super Mario Brothers 3
