Acer unveils “S5200”: 3D video projector promising 120Hz refresh rate

Apart from its 3D video projection capability with 120Hz refresh rate, it boasts short-throw capability (81-inch pictures from 1 meter away) and compliance with LAN control systems.

Its lamp offers 3000 ANSI lumens with 2500:1 contrast ratio with 4000 hrs of life. Added to this, it has 4:3 screen projection with 1024 x 768 XGA native resolution and thanks to Acer’s own ColorBoost II technology, it can automatically change brightness and balance depending on the content and has HDMI out.

As a final word, it costs £650 and announced to be available now.

Excuse me? Is this device for schools in Nigeria? Cause nobody else will buy this. What kind of movie has 4:3 aspect ratio? What kind of movie projector has a 2500:1 contrast? Who plays a 3D movie in daylight, where 3000 lumen are appropriate? Stupid! I could have bought such a device 10 years ago. I am sure Epson will have a proper 1080p 120Hz projector on the market before Acer even manages to build a prototype. Acer, back to the drafting table!
