WAPI-capable iPhones to be available in China soon
Current iPhones available in China lack the capability of Wireless LAN connection as you may know Chinese government had had a ban on Wi-Fi handsets for a long time and granted permission provided that the products will be compatible with China-only standard known as WAPI (Wireless LAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure).
According to the Chinese tech site PCPOP, Foxconn has already started the production of WAP-enabled iPhones under the code name “N88”.
