Apple potentially in trouble with Fujitsu with the iPad trade name.

Apple announced yesterday its iPad across the world, and well why I was quite unimpressed by the product, the name however ringed a bell to me… Yep the iPad is actually a Fujitsu Trademark…So I called Fujitsu in Japan this morning and here you are the Official Statement.

“Fujitsu Frontech North America is aware of Apple’s iPad announcement and the possible infringement on our trademark, which has been in use in connection with Fujitsu mobile retailing computer products since 2002. We are currently discussing our options with our trademark counsel and have no
further comment at this time”.

So why here it is, we will have to wait a little to see what happen, but I am surprise that Apple did not check this matter more carefully, or maybe they did not really care or just have enough cash to not care…

Typical Apple. It’s the same with the “iPhone”. Cisco was already first then they were able to keep Cisco quiet. They’ll probably do the same thing with Fujitsu.

if I’m not mistaken, HP still sells their handheld PDA, the iPaq.
iPaq also sounds a lot like iPad.
