LG Display’s world first 19-inch E Ink flexible display

Well all dreamed of it, having a real paper like E Ink display that can be used like our average newspaper, and well LG Philips Did it! With a 19” (25x40cm) flexible E Ink display almost equivalent to an A3 page size and just with a weight of 130g and a thickness of just 0.3mm.

As mention the Korean press release, this display can be easily deform without breaking. Of course this does not mean that tomorrow we will read our news or Akihabara News for that matter in the train with such display, but we are however heading to this direction whether you like it or not!

I remember reading up about e-ink when watching a story about PARC Labs. They developed this stuff years ago and I remember them talking about how some day we would have all of our newspapers or books made out of E-Ink. It seemed so far away back then.

Yet here we are 2010 and it’s closer to reality than we think. I’m hoping for the day when you can make a full hardback book made out of E-Ink. Sure we have readers and all, but nothing beats the simplicity of a bound book. No buttons to push, can easily move forward and backwards. That’s what I want, a E-Ink book.
