Sony Introduced Ultraportable-Energy Efficient Y series Notebook

Slim just 1.2-inch profile and low weight just 1.78 kg, Y series boasts ultra-portability and low power consumption thanks to its 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 ultra-low voltage processor. Other main specs include up to 8GBs of RAM, 13.3” LED backlit 1366 x 768 resolution widescreen display, a durable magnesium casing, up to seven hours of battery life, HDMI output, Stereo Bluetooth technology and Wi-Fi : 802.11 b/g/n.

I’m sorry 1.2 inch thick is NOT slim! A 1.2″ thick laptop is NOT news. To be considered “thin” it has to be under 1 inch thick (I have an old Sony laptop from several years ago that was under 1 inch and only 1.3kg), and preferably .76 inch or less (Toshiba, Apple MacBook Air, etc.). Come on Sony, I know you can do it. Give us a .75 inch 1.35 kg laptop with a 14 inch LCD screen and undercut the MacBook Air on price.

  Even if they made the netbook you suggest, it would still run only Windows – while the Macbook series runs ANY and all OSs.

That should be 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300.

A 3.0GHz chip at this price point (as well as power envelope and thus form factor) would be absolutely incredible.
