Buffalo new 2.5” MLC SSD is also an external HDD.

Buffalo announced just after Xmas a new line-up of SSD, the SHD-NSUH Series. Available in 32, 64, 128 and 256GB these MLC SSD (2,5”) also offers a mini USB port in order to be either used in or out of your computer… These SSD will be available within January and the 256GB version will be sold at 106000 Yen In any retail stores like Yodobashi Camera for example.

    I think you actually meant that these products can be also used as “external SSDs” rather “external HDDs”.Being external doesn’t make them less SSDs than they are and certainly does not add hard disk platters and cylinders inside them,right? :)
    Still,unless we’re talking about mini USB 3.0 here,who in his right mind would connect an SSD via USB 2.0 and as a result have its performance shattered?
    Why not add an eSATA port as well and use the USB for power?
