US Air Force acquiring 2,200 Sony Play Station 3 to enhance its “Super Computer”

Targeted to be used at the US Air Force Research Laboratory’s information directorate in Rome, N.Y, these new 2,200 PS 3 will enhance the Air Force’s already existing 336 unit clustered super computer which has been used “to test a method of processing multiple radar images into higher resolution composite images (known as synthetic aperture radar image formation), high-def video processing, and “neuromorphic computing,” or building computers with brain-like properties”.
