Playstation Network Video Delivery Service now available on PS3 and PSP
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) just announced that they extended the Playstation Network Video Delivery Service to PS3 and PSP for Europe. It is reported to be currently available in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, with other countries to follow in 2010, this service allows users to download HD and SD movies from among a choice of more than 2000 including such popular titles as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Transformers and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The system is quite easy: Just access the PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service under the “Video Store” section of the Playstation Store to either rent or purchase movies. In the first case, you have “up to 14 days to watch their movie, and, once playback is started, you have 48 hours to watch the content” and in the case that you opt for purchasing, “movies are stored on the PS3 hard disk drive and can be accessed at home via PS3 or transferred to PSP for content on the go”.

It’s a pretty good service except for the pricing on the videos. Most anime is somewhere around $2-$3 per episode and even the other movies are over priced. They’re around $4-$5 for a rental and even old movies are $15 for own. You could do that for convenience sake, or just go to walmart, buy a movie for $3-$5 dollars and then rip it and put it on your playstation / psp yourself.
when it will available in ireland??
