Samsung Introduces New Multimedia Player R0 in Korea

The R0 may not be a Zune HD contender, however, our little new Digital Video and Audio Player (PMP, DAP… Name it whatever you like it), with its 2.6” TFT LCD, FM Radio tuner, MicroSD and support of DviX, XviD as well as H.264, make it a nice little addition to the PMP family.

Only available in Korea in either 4 or 4GB version our R0 can be bought in 4 different colors including Black, Silver or Pink

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leader in consumer electronics and digital convergence technology, today announced the South Korean market launch of its newest multimedia player, the R0 (YP-R0), featuring advanced audio and video capabilities together with a MicroSD external memory slot that frees users of memory constraints.

With its slim form factor and 2.6” TFT LCD screen, the Samsung R0 offers a powerful multimedia experience in a stylish package. The R0 features generous memory capacity with a built-in MicroSD memory slot that allows users to boost storage capacity by up to 16GB. With a choice of models offering 4GB or 8GB of internal memory, consumers can enjoy a huge variety of multimedia content including video, music and pictures, without having to worry about running short of space. Also, in conjunction with the launch of the R0, Samsung is offering a 2GB MicroSD card for consumers who register the product at www.emodio.com.

With intuitive “Drag & Drop” functionality, the device gives users the freedom to enjoy their audio/video libraries anywhere, anytime. For easy viewing of high-quality video, the Samsung R0 supports a range of popular formats including DivX, XviD, H.264 and WMV, eliminating the need for external conversion. In addition, Samsung’s patented DNSe™ 3.0 sound enhancement technology provides crystal clear sound quality to give users the ultimate multimedia experience.

With a sophisticated design and slim body measuring just 8.8 mm deep, the R0 features an optimized grip giving it unique style, while the integrated tactile keypad makes the device easy to operate in the dark.

“The R0 is a premium device with a stylish design, convenient user interface and exceptional multimedia capabilities,” said Jooho Song, Vice President, Samsung Electronics. “The R0 also offers users the convenience of a built-in MicroSD slot so they can enjoy flexibility in terms of memory capacity while experiencing all the features and functionality.”

Among the many added features, the R0 includes an FM Radio, second-language acquisition programs and a text/photo viewer. The device ships in three colors: Indie Black, Techno Silver, and Rap Pink. Prices are KRW139,000 for 4GB of internal memory and KRW179,000 for 8GB.
