C&C iEXPO 09 : Nec ready to jump into the Android World

This morning NEC occupied the entire basement of the Tokyo International Forum at Yurakucho in order to display its latest Gizmos, prototypes or concepts… Among several other interesting things that we will be covered later today, NEC displayed some Android based MIDs and a Picture Frame which may shape Japanese future next autumn.

The reason why these 2 MIDs and 1 Photo frame (with advance MID functions) were just conceptual mock-up is, as we were explained by the NEC Personal Solution Business Development Division Chief Manager, that they are working hard to propose not only the correct hardware for the MID or the Tablet Like solution, but are also working with a potential partner (and still searching for more) in order to propose the prefect software solution/package to bring along with the Hardware.

Regarding the Hardware side, NEC could not give us much detail since everything is possible, meaning open-ended, yet, however, like many MIDs running Android on the market, these future products could also be running an ARM CPU, as well as Tegra like GPU and will also include multi-touch technology. As for the screen, we have been informed that they will use regular TFT panels rather than AMOLED ones.
