Vaio X Series: Pictures Gallery Update and Hands-on

We finally got to Ginza where Sony’s press conference for their all new Netbook, the Vaio X, took place.
We were able to shoot some pictures at the CEATEC 2009, but couldn’t get our hands on it to test it..
Regarding the specs, we have an Atom Z540 (1.86GHz) CPU, an 11.1’’ LCD WXGA (1366×768 ) screen, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of SSD, an Intel GMA 500, Wi-Fi, as well as W-WAN (Docomo), camera, Bluetooth, and Office Personal 2007.
We got some time with this new baby, but we’re not that impressed with it, but not disappointed… The X Series is a good Netbook…Solid and very stylish with an aluminum and carbon fiber body… No complaints about the design, the Vaio X is a success…
But why did Sony chose an Atom CPU? According to the Japanese manufacturer, this new series was made to complete, not to replace, the Vaio P… But they could make something practical, with a bigger screen, still light and easy to carry… And, this baby is very light (655g against 639g for the Vaio P), and thin (13.9mm)…
Fortunately, Sony didn’t forget to integrate 64GB of SSD that should give it a boost, and a nice battery providing a life span of 16hrs…
Yes, the new X Series is a little expensive (130,000 Yen or €996), like the Vaio P… If you want to invest in this new machine, forget about the low-end models and go straight to the high ends to be sure of getting something cool…
